Magan Smith is a resident of Dothan who served in the Air Force as an Aircraft Armament Systems Specialist. She was medically retired in 2014 as a Staff Sergeant. After the military, she joined the Bricklayers Union in 2014 and completed the Pre-Apprenticeship Bricklayers training in Tampa, FL. During her time as a bricklayer’s apprentice, she obtained OSHA 10 and 30 certifications. In 2015, she traveled to the International Masonry Institute, where she earned certifications in refractory masonry, welding and MSHA. She also traveled to Los Angeles, CA where she spoke at the Women in Trades Conference to open for the International Bricklayers Union President. Magan went on the study Human Resource Management at Troy University where she received Summa Cum Laude in 2018.
In 2022, Magan opened Meridian Contractors, LLC. The company became active in 2023 when it was awarded its first contract with the Department of Veterans Affairs. She also began consulting as a project manager for Masonry Incorporated who was awarded the masonry contract of the single largest military construction contract on record in the Air Force database at Tyndall Air Force Base.
